Medical and Diabetic Eyecare
If you have or suspect that you have diabetes, it’s important to get regular eye examinations to prevent a condition known as diabetic retinopathy. This debilitating condition is caused by damage to the blood vessels at the back of the eye. We have the ability to assess and get you the help you need here in Louisville, Kentucky.
Symptoms include:
- Spots, strings, or other “floaters” in your vision
- Blurred vision that does not improve with blinking
- A dark or empty spot in the center of your vision.
- Difficulty seeing well at night.
In many cases, there are no symptoms present at the earliest stages of diabetic retinopathy. This is why we recommend everyone with diabetes or pre-diabetes to have a comprehensive dilated eye examination at least once every year. The earlier we can detect the signs and begin treatment, the more we can reduce the potential for significant vision loss.
